Stratham Group

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

Hernandez, Kroone & Associates (HKA) provided civil engineering support to the Stratham Group for a home development located in Rancho Cucamonga, CA. The task was to provide a recommendation to determine the exterior travel path and the number of parking spaces that are in compliance with ADA standards.

HKA reviewed Client provided plans for ADA compliance on the project located on the west side of East Avenue and North of Foothill Boulevard in Rancho Cucamonga, CA.

The 2016 California Building Code were referenced to provide recommendations and comments. These plans consisted of Housing and Commercial Ready Units (CRU). HKA communicated with the City of Rancho Cucamonga Building and Safety Services Department on how the Housing and the CRU should be reviewed for the determination of minimum ADA parking spaces.

HKA concluded with 3 possible scenarios for the amount of required ADA parking spaces: Either both Housing and CRU are treated as one study; Housing and CRU are treated as two different studies, or Housing and each of the 4 CRUs are treated individually.

HKA delivered solutions to the 3 scenarios and a detailed explanation of the amount of ADA parking spaces required for each scenario per the City of Rancho Cucamonga’s requirements for the minimum amount of required ADA parking spaces. HKA also ensured the exterior path was ADA compliant on the said plans. Exterior path of travel was previously not compliant with current standards. HKA addressed the problem with the client and suggested alternatives to meet ADA compliance
