Mountain View Ave Bridge Widening

Loma Linda, CA

HKA was tasked with construction staking of the $10 million dollar Mountain View Avenue Bridge Widening project. HKA was responsible for establishing survey control and calculation of grid grades. In addition, HKA set construction stakes for rough and final grade, ground and superstructure stakes, drainage structures, right of way flagging, slope stakes, cut and fill stakes, utility stakes, and curb and gutter.

The Mountain View Avenue Bridge is an existing 119-foot bridge which will be widened by adding approximately 37 feet on the East side of the bridge for a total finished width of 84 feet. Six pre-cast post-tensioned Bulb-Tee Girders will be installed to span the Union Pacific Railroad and support a steel reinforced concrete deck. Class 70 concrete driven piles will also support this foundation.

Surveying operations were performed within the railroad right of way and conducted under Union Pacific safety requirements.

Staking and field notes were provided in strict accordance with the Caltrans’ Survey Manual, Safety Manual, and CAD standards, and Right of Way standards. HKA performed this work with our Trimble R8 RTK GPS base, Rover and Receiver, Leica TPS 1200 Reflectorless Total Station.
